Welcoming New Trainers
Amber Barker · Newton Abbot
We are delighted to welcome Amber Barker. As a mum, Amber understands first hand the positive impact that exercise can have, having discovered how much the gym supported her mental health after the birth of her second child. That experience has inspired her to help others experience the same benefits. Amber now wants to create a supportive environment where members can build confidence, improve their wellbeing, and enjoy their own fitness journey.
Amber Brown · Newton Abbot
We are also excited to introduce Amber Brown, with a real passion for helping young women build confidence and become the best version of themselves. Amber is committed to supporting members in achieving their fitness goals, whether that is improving strength, boosting confidence or creating healthy, sustainable habits. She loves seeing people progress and is dedicated to helping every member feel comfortable, motivated and proud of the results they achieve.
Student Coaching
We now have a dedicated trainer at our clubs at specific times during the week with the sole purpose of coaching students. They will show you how to lift properly and give you advice on your training programme to help you achieve your goals. They will also coach you in areas like sleep, nutrition and supplements as well as the lifestyle choices that may be hindering your results. This help is totally free so please do not hesitate to grab them while they are on the gym floor.
August Member Challenge
30 Calorie BikeErg for Time
It is time for our next monthly challenge. Throughout August we are challenging you to see how fast you can complete 30 calories on the BikeErg. Everyone who takes on the challenge will be entered into the draw for the chance to win a free month's gym membership. So get on the bike, give it your best effort, and good luck.
Our Winners
At Winners 2000, we love seeing our members and trainers achieve their goals, whether it is lifting heavier, competing in an event, or just showing up consistently. This month we are proud to spotlight a few standout achievements.
Over £1000 raised for Checkpoint
We are delighted to announce that £1008 has been raised from our Annual Charity Walk, held on Sunday 13th June, organised by our Torquay trainer Hannah Bryant.
All proceeds were donated to The Children's Society's Checkpoint Hub, which supports children and young people across the Bay with emotional needs, mental health challenges, autism, and much more.
One group set off from Winners Gym covering 4.8 miles, while a second group joined at Watcombe Beach Car Park, completing 2.13 miles. Together we walked the beautiful coastal path to Maidencombe Beach Café for a pit stop before walking back. We were blessed with glorious weather, stunning views, and great company throughout the day.
Thank you once again to everyone who took part, donated, and helped make the event such a success. We are incredibly grateful for your support and already look forward to doing it all again in 2027.
Hyrox Charity and Family Fun Day
A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our Hyrox Charity and Family Fun Day. From the athletes to the spectators and volunteers, you all helped create an incredible atmosphere.
A special mention goes to everyone who competed in the Kids Hyrox. We loved seeing so many young people getting involved and enjoying being active.
We would also like to thank Newton Abbot Racecourse, Il Cornicione, Matt Fordham, Mane Events and all of our trainers and volunteers for making the day such a success.
Together, we raised over £1,000 for the neonatal units at Musgrove Park Hospital and the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
Dryathlon 2026
In May, Personal Trainer Ethan Grant and Director Dean Turner welcomed 30 students from Mayfield School to take part in our Dryathlon event, similar to a triathlon but using the rower instead of swimming.
This event was created for children with special educational needs, helping to break down some of the barriers, worries and fears that may prevent them from seeing health and fitness as something they can enjoy and include in their lives. We know how powerful exercise can be for confidence, wellbeing and long term health. By introducing these students to a positive gym environment, we hope to show that fitness can be accessible, enjoyable and achievable for everyone.
If you, or someone you know, falls into this category and has been putting off working towards a physical goal in the gym, please reach out to Ethan by sending him a direct message on social media @grantspersonal_training. He would be more than happy to help you take that first step.
Winners Hybrid Games
A huge congratulations to everyone who competed in our Winners Hybrid Games at both our Torquay and Paignton clubs. It was fantastic to see so many members challenging themselves and supporting one another throughout the events. The atmosphere at both venues was incredible and showcased exactly what the Winners 2000 community is all about.
A special thank you goes to the trainers who helped organise the events as well as to all of the volunteers whose hard work helped everything run so smoothly.
Together, the events also raised valuable funds for Jax, a brave young boy recently diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, making the day even more meaningful. Well done to everyone involved.
Tristan Smith · National Three Peaks Challenge
We are incredibly proud of our member Tristan Smith, who recently took on the incredible National Three Peaks Challenge alongside family and friends, completing the climbs of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in just 34 hours.
Taking on a challenge that tested both physical and mental strength, Tristan went one step further by climbing Ben Nevis barefoot. Despite difficult conditions, including cold and wet weather, Tristan completed the climb as part of a fundraising effort in memory of his parents, Colin and Sadie Smith, who were supported by Rowcroft Hospice during their final stages of life.
Through this incredible achievement, Tristan has raised more than £5,000 for Rowcroft Hospice, helping support the vital work they do for local families facing some of life's most difficult moments.
This challenge is a brilliant example of the determination, resilience and community spirit that we love seeing from our members. A huge congratulations, Tristan. An amazing effort and an inspiration to us all.
2026 Bodybuilding Season
A huge congratulations to all of our members and trainers who stepped on stage during this year's bodybuilding season. The dedication and discipline required to prepare for shows is something to be incredibly proud of.
Our trainer Will achieved top placings across multiple federations, including 1st Place at the GBO, alongside impressive performances at PCA Naturals, UKDFBA and WNBF events. Jon secured multiple titles including GBO Overall Champion and earned his Pro Card. Congratulations also to Jemma who claimed a fantastic 1st Place at the 2Bros MK Classic after strong performances throughout the season, and Chris who achieved top placings including 1st Place in the True Novice Men's Physique class at the 2Bros MK Classic. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved and look forward to seeing what next season brings.
Ben Hopkins · Hyrox World Championships
A huge congratulations to our trainer Ben on an incredible performance at the Hyrox World Championships in Stockholm.
Competing alongside his partner Blake Beckman in the Pro Doubles 16 to 24 category, Ben crossed the finish line in an outstanding time of 57:31, earning them a place among the top 50 in the world.
Anyone who trains with Ben knows how much time and effort he puts into his own training. Seeing that hard work pay off with a top 50 finish at the World Championships is brilliant, and we could not be prouder of him.
Google Review Competition Winner
Congratulations to our winner, Raiden James-Stewart, who has received £100 in cash after leaving us a review on Google.
"Been using this gym for almost two years, never was a gym person but the environment and their equipment really made it worth my time. Brilliant."
We appreciate everyone who took the time to share their feedback as it helps us continue to improve and grow our community. Your experience at Winners 2000 matters to us, and we are always looking for ways to improve. If you enjoy training with us, please take a moment to leave a Google review sharing your thoughts. As a thank you, everyone who leaves a review will be entered into a draw to win £100 cash.
Winning Training Tip · Sustainable Fat Loss
Fat loss does not mean giving up the foods you love. The key to successful, sustainable fat loss is being in a consistent calorie deficit, consuming fewer calories than your body burns each day. This is the one non negotiable if your goal is to lose body fat.
That does not mean you have to cut out all your favourite treats. Instead, aim for an 80/20 approach to your nutrition. Around 80% of your diet should come from whole, nutrient dense foods such as lean protein sources, fruit, vegetables, wholegrains and healthy fats, while the remaining 20% can include the foods you enjoy. This balanced approach is far more sustainable and makes it easier to stay consistent long term.
To support your fat loss while preserving muscle, aim to consume around 1.7g of protein per kilogram of body weight each day. Eating enough protein helps maintain lean muscle, keeps you feeling fuller for longer, and supports recovery from your training.
Remember, successful fat loss is not about being perfect. It is about building habits you can stick to consistently.
